The whole month of July communities around Australia are coming together to raise awareness about conscious consumerism and promote sustainable alternatives to single use plastics. Not sure where to start? Visit their website www.plasticfreejuly.org for tips on how to reduce your environmental footprint and sign up. Or connect with your local beach-clean group. Plastic Free Freo and Our Coast Our Mission are doing excellent work on the Western and Eastern coasts respectively, picking up the rubbish that others are throwing down. This month we're donating straws to schools and businesses across the country. If you'd like to get involved, write to us at firstname.lastname@example.org
This is Boe Nardi, one of Adelaide's most committed to protecting our seas and planet from plastic. He volunteers regularly to clean up the rubbish other people discard and is creating a movement in his local community encouraging others to get involved and take responsibility for their environment. I'm proud to say I've known this guy since we were kids. It doesn't take long for one passionate little kid to become one of the change-makers of their generation. Let's teach our little ones where our food comes from, hey?
